When the skies exploded!

Northern Lights - Aurora Borealis dance
“She looked directly up into the northern lights
and she wondered if those cold-burning spectres
might not draw her breath, her very soul,
out of her chest and into the stars.”
― Eowyn Ivey

Last night was without a doubt one of the best nights of my life. We had the most amazing northern lights (Wiki link for those that want to read more about them)I have ever seen, and watching nature putting on such a spectacular show simply left me speechless.

There's no way to describe the beauty of seeing the sky explode in green and purple. And none of my pictures does it justice.

But all in all I had an awesome week with three bouldering sessions and lots of hiking with the dog.

And I have pretty much decided on the dates for my trip to Kilimanjaro. Now it's just a matter of getting all the practical stuff in order, and make sure that I'm in excellent shape to do the hike.

I wish you all a wonderful week!

For me, tonight might be another night of hunting the gorgeous Aurora Borealis - something that should be considered an extreme sport as it involves a lot of hiking in the dark through forests and unknown paths in order to find the perfect spot.

And the rest of the week will be devoted to work, training and rock climbing.

Into the woods...

Clouds reflection lake

“It would seem from this fact, that man is naturally a wild animal,
and that when taken from the woods,
he is never happy in his natural state,
'till he returns to them again.”
Benjamin Rush

As you walk through the forest, finding your own paths, you come to a small clearing looking out across a small lake.

You close your eyes, take a deep breath and just stand there, completely still for a few minutes. And your mind and body feels start to feel lighter, almost as though the nature around you is flowing through your veins, calming down your mind and decreasing your heart rate.

Change is coming...

Neil Gaiman Quote New Year Inspiration

I'll be making some huge changes to the site in the coming days, turning it in to more of a personal journal following some of the journeys and adventures I'll be embarking. So please don't be alarmed if you come back and find the page completely changed :)

It will be a brand new topic, though the name of the site will still be fitting. So I hope you'll want to come along and see the world. Hopefully you'll enjoy it :)

And, with the inspiring words from Neil Gaiman, "dream dangerously and outrageously"!

PS. Most of the old posts will disappear - so no more celebrity homes.

5 Quick Tips To Reduce Electricity Consumption - And Save You Some Money Too

Wind Turbines In the Sunset
Picture: Creative Commons

How do you feel about saving money and become more Eco-Friendly at the same time?

By now I'm sure you've all seen hundreds of headlines about climate changes, increasing sea levels,
Carbon Dioxide (CO2 ) emissions, and so on.

These headlines might leave some of you worried, some of you might not believe what the scientists are saying, and some of you might think along the lines of, "There's nothing I can do about it, this is too big for me to have the slightest impact."

But there is actually a lot you can do to help make our planet a healthier and better place to live, and most of the things you can do don't require a lot of effort either.

I'll start by looking at Electricity Consumption. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), only about 11% of world marketed energy consumption is from renewable energy sources.

Meaning that by reducing the amount of electricity you use, you can make a big difference - both to your wallet and to the planet

In fact, if you follow these 5 simple steps, you can make your home more green and save some money at the same time. You probably won't even notice the changes too much, but if a lot of people implement them into their daily lives, it can make a huge impact.

Let's get to it!

I Love Mondays!

I Love Mondays Inspirational Quote - Motivation

I love Mondays. No, I'm not joking, I actually do love Mondays. While most people are sad that the weekend is over and that they have to get back to work, I feel like Mondays need some love too.

Don't get me wrong, I love the weekends as much as the next person. And I used to hate Mondays too. I used to dread getting out of bed every Monday, and could not wait for the next Friday afternoon to come along.

Though my soul may set in darkness....

Shooting Star - Quotes - Sarah Williams, darkness night Meme

The Old Astronomer to His Pupil

"Reach me down my Tycho Brahe, I would know him when we meet,
When I share my later science, sitting humbly at his feet;
He may know the law of all things, yet be ignorant of how
We are working to completion, working on from then to now.

Pray remember that I leave you all my theory complete,
Lacking only certain data for your adding, as is meet,
And remember men will scorn it, 'tis original and true,
And the obloquy of newness may fall bitterly on you.

10 Things To Consider When Moving To Another Country

If you don't like where you are, change it
Many people dream of moving to another country, even to another continent, yet for most this will only stay a dream. Leaving your daily routines, everyone you love and all those things you are so familiar with can be quite intimating.

But trust me, moving to another country can be one of the most exiting experiences of your life. You'll met new people, see new places, battle bureaucracy and stacks of paper, learn to love a new culture and maybe even a new language.

Even though some will give up and move back to their home countries, others will completely fall in love with their new environments and never look back. If you don't reach for your dreams they will never come true.

I've taken the leap before, and I'm currently considering moving to Spain. So I wanted to share some of my experience with you.

Here are 10 things you should look into before making an international move:
