House of the Day: Where Does The Fox Live?

If you've been browsing the Internet the last few days, there's a good chance you've come across a certain Youtube video that some claim will be the next Gangnam Style. And "what does the fox say?" seems to be question of the week, all thanks to Ylvis.

Norwegian comedian duo and brothers, Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker, posted a music video to promote their new talkshow: 'I Kveld Med YLVIS' (translation: Tonight With Ylvis), and the video went viral. The video and song are strangly addicting, though I'm more concerned about another one of their questions: "What's the meaning of Stonehenge?"

In May, 2013, younger brother Bård, that's the blond guy, sold his villa in Bergen, and he purchased what's described as a classic 4,736-square-foot mansion built in 1897 in Oslo for NOK 11.8 million (about $2 million).

House of the Day: Mediterranean Mansion In Atlanta, GA

House of the day is a large, luxurious mansion in Atlanta. Though the property does not belong to any celebrities, it does have its own fame.

The mansion was built in 2008, but it has already played a part in not just one, but two movies. The party party scenes from the movie 'The Three Stooges' were filmed at this location, and the villa also played Bill Murray's Hollywood home in the movie 'Zombieland'.

House of the Day: Luxury Villa in Mallorca, Spain

Luxurious Mansion Mallorca, SpainIn a previous post, I mentioned how I'd started thinking about moving to Spain, and preferably to Mallorca.

Since then, I've spent quite a few hours browsing through properties in Spain, and that's when I came across this gorgeous ocean-front villa located next to the marina of Cala Nova.

At close to $24,000,000 this mansion is completely out of my price range, but it's oh-so-beautiful. And it makes the homes that I actually can afford, and that are located in the areas I'd like to live, look rather depressing. I mean, just look at this apartment in Alcudia or this terraced house, also in Alcudia.

I'll just have to keep on saving, which is really boring but hopefully worth it, keep looking, and then maybe my perfect Spanish villa will turn up. Well, I'm getting side-tracked. We've got a 1,134 m2 (that's about 12,206 square feet) mansion to explore.

House of the Day: Video Tour of Versace Mansion

Versace Mansion Miami Beach
As you probably already know, the lavish Miami Beach mansion where Gianni Versace, founder of  Gianni Versace S.p.A, lived and died has been on the market for quite some time.
But the market has not been kind to the place.

Originally the property was listed in June, 2012, for $125 million, and after a few months on the market, the price was reduced to $100M, and then to $75 million.

Now the infamous mansion is headed to bankruptcy in September.

A Tour of The Building Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra Once Called Home

Marilyn Monroe Doheny Drive
House of the Day is the West Hollywood building that was one home to both Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe. The building was recently listed for sale at $4,250,000, and sold in March, 2013, for $3,720,000.

Built in 1952, the this was originally a 5-unit apartment building, but it has since been redone by interior designer Kalef Alaton, who turned it into a 3 unit home. Monroe was obviously fond of the place, as she called it home twice during her life.

House of the Day: Loch House Featured on 'Grand Designs'

Grand Designs Loch House
In the first episode of 'Grand Designs' season 6, Jim and Simone Fairfull set out to build their dream home for their family in Stilwater, Killearn, Scotland.

With a budget of £500,000, the couple poured all of their dreams and design ideas into this loch house when they built it back in 2006, so it was a bit surprising to see it listed for sale. They did end up spending close to £1,000,000 on the build, so maybe they've set out to find a cheaper place to live.

Have a look at the pictures of this unique loch house, and I've even included the full 'Grand Designs' episode below.

Hotel of the Day, Hemingways In Nairobi, Kenya

Hemingways Nairobi, Kenya
Though it's not really a "House" of the Day, I just had to share this hotel in Kenya with you.

Many, including me, dream of going on a safari in Africa. I'd love to  see the big herds of elephants, big cats in their natural environment and enjoy the cultural diversity and rich history of Kenya.

And as if the wildlife, gorgeous sunsets and sunrises, the lovely people and scenery aren't enough incentives to visits this beautiful country, here's another one:

House of the Day: Another Converted Water Tower From Grand Designs

Converted Water Tower from Grand Designs
I am a huge fan of the British TV-show 'Grand Designs,' and I'm particularly fond of the conversions of old buildings. So when I came across this complete episode about a water tower conversion, I just had to share.

This 100-foot tall water tower in Amersham, UK, was actually one of the first projects 'Grand Designs' and architect Kevin McCloud ever followed. And it's fun to compare this project to other converted water towers, such as this one in London.

House of the Day: Malibu Beach House For Sale

Malibu Beach House for Sale
Happy Independence Day to all American readers!
If you're in Los Angeles on 4th of July, where should you go?

Malibu is a popular place to celebrate 4th of July, with private beach parties and where people turn PCH into a parking lot while watching the fireworks shot from barges.

And a lucky few get to spend the day and night in one of the beach houses. So i
n honor of Independence Day, I decided to show you this beachfront property in Malibu. While it's probably too late to buy this house in time for tonight's celebrations, you can plan ahead for next year.

Property for sale Mallorca, Spain
A while back, the idea of moving to Mallorca, Spain, popped into my head. And since then I've been browsing through quite a few real estate listings trying to find areas where I'd like to live, and trying to find properties that meet all of my demands.

And while browsing through some potential houses, I came across this little beauty... Though at £18,000,000, it's a bit out of my price range. (sad-face)

House of the Day: Kourtney Kardahsian's Calabasas House

Kourtney Kardahsian Calabasas House
Another day, another Kardashian:

Since I've already written posts about the houses of Kim, Khloe and Kris, I decided that it would only be fair to include the oldest sister/daughter of the Kardashian klan. So here are the details about Kourtney Kardashian's Calabasas house.

It can't really be called a picture tour, as there are few pictures available. But there are details to share.

House of the Day: A Castle in Germany

German Castle For Sale
My virtual real estate trip through Europe continues, and today I'm visiting Germany, a country with a rich history and plenty of castles from the Middle Ages.

When I first started looking for castles for sale, the prices took me by surprise as some of them are well within my price range (maybe I should move to Germany?). At first glance, they are very affordable. But then I remembered stories told by a German friend I had in high school.

House of the Day: 1115 Sierra Alta Way, Los Angeles

1115 Sierra Alta Way Modern House Beverly Hills
Today's house tour is another modern home, I seem to favor the sleek, clean and open feel of these houses. Despite the lacking view (that's an important thing for me), and having an interior that's a a tad over the top for me, I could definitely live here.
