Dear 2016

Both me and The Dog love snow!
Dear 2016,

It is with a heavy heart that I write these words. And I probably should do this face-to-face, but it is so much easier to get down all my thoughts in writing. If you read everything I have to say with an open mind, I hope you will understand.

Rock climbing

First of all, I want to thank you for our time together. We've had some glorious moments together, and made wonderful memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life. You were great to me. Maybe one of the best I've had. And I will forever picture us dancing together underneath the northern lights, hiking in the mountains and rock climbing in the sun.

Northern lights and billions of stars.

I have met so many wonderful people through you, people that may stay with me forever. We've had some splendid nights under the stars, just listening to the sounds of nature, smelling the trees and being there alone away from the hustle and bustle of civilization.

And I am happy to say that you have made me a much better person. You helped me develop in so many areas, and I will continue to develop. You made me stronger.

So it saddens me to tell you that someone else has peaked my interest. He's promised me the world, travels, higher mountains, more stars, and lots of fun times. And trust me when I say it's not you, it's me. I feel like we're growing apart, and that I can't take you with me into the future. 2017, that's his name, will be there for me now.
Reminds me of Mordor...

You've been kind to me, dear 2016. But we must take our separate ways now.

I will always keep you in my heart, and never forget the good times we had.
